Naples · Pick a neighbourhood
- Historic centre and decumani: a good first base for pizza, pastry shops and a walking day. The streets around San Domenico Maggiore and Via dei Tribunali can become busy.
- Pignasecca and Montesanto: produce, groceries and street-food pauses close to the western edge of the old centre.
- Chiaia, Santa Lucia and the waterfront: plan a separate meal or evening walk; a sea view is one choice among many, not a guarantee of a better kitchen.
- Vomero and Sanità: distinct neighbourhood visits. Account for hills or transport and keep enough time to eat rather than collecting more stops.
Caserta, Sannio and Irpinia · Inland days
A Caserta visit can pair the palace with one unhurried meal or a separately arranged dairy stop. Sannio around Benevento and Irpinia around Avellino call for their own transport plan: countryside kitchens, producers and winery visits are easier to enjoy with an appointment and a clear return journey.
Vesuvius, Sorrento and the islands · Choose one direction
Pompeii or Herculaneum can anchor a day of their own. Sorrento and the Lattari area introduce a different peninsula landscape. For Capri, Ischia or Procida, choose one island and confirm your actual port, sailing and return; sea conditions and seasonal service matter.
Salerno, the Amalfi Coast and Cilento · Give them space
Salerno, an Amalfi Coast town and the Paestum/Cilento area reward separate days or a different base. The coastal map can make neighbouring towns look quicker to connect than they are. Choose a limited route and confirm the transport before a long lunch.
Build the day around food and one place
Choose one main cultural stop or landscape, one meal and a workable journey home. Keep tastings and farm visits separate appointments; an open shop is not automatically a visitor tour.
