Taste Venice

A market morning, a few cicchetti and a city worth exploring slowly.

Begin with the city

Give the first day to the central city. A Rialto morning introduces ingredients, San Polo gives lunch a useful home, and a walk toward San Marco and Castello leaves room for both landmarks and quieter streets.

What to taste

  • A few cicchetti from today’s counter
  • Baccalà mantecato
  • Sarde in saor
  • Bigoli in salsa
  • Risi e bisi when the season and menu fit
  • Zaeti or another bakery sweet

Plan your day

Understand the table

Before you go

Check the Rialto fish-market day, your access-fee date and the transport you need. At our 5 October 2026 check, the fish market operated Tuesday–Saturday. Future access-fee calendars need a fresh check; ordinary vaporetto passes exclude Marco Polo airport connections.

Beyond Venice

Burano can have its own boat day. Treviso, Padua, Verona and the wider region need their own route and travel time.
