A café pause, a market morning and one proper Piedmontese lunch. Follow this compact central route at your own pace; the times are suggestions.
The day at a glance
- Morning: coffee or bicerin around the Consolata and a look at Porta Palazzo.
- Lunch: a seated meal in the centre or Quadrilatero Romano.
- Afternoon: Piazza Castello, the porticoes of Via Po and Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
- Evening: a relaxed aperitivo, with dinner according to your appetite.
09:00 · A café start near the Consolata
Start around Piazza della Consolata with coffee and a pastry, or a bicerin if you want a richer pause. Enjoy the glass slowly. Check the menu before choosing table service and keep the rest of the morning light.
10:00 · Porta Palazzo
Walk to Piazza della Repubblica for Porta Palazzo. Browse produce, bread and specialist food stalls; the outdoor market and covered halls have their own opening patterns. Check the day first. If the market is closed, keep the neighbourhood walk and move your café pause here.
12:30 · A Piedmontese lunch
Choose a table in the central streets or Quadrilatero Romano. Tajarin or agnolotti are useful first choices; an antipasto such as vitello tonnato can make a smaller meal. Read the daily menu, ask about ingredients and reserve where required.
15:00 · Porticoes and a chocolate break
Continue through Piazza Castello and along Via Po towards Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Take a small chocolate tasting or a café break on the way. Museums and the Mole Antonelliana are optional visits with separate access checks; adding one may replace part of the walk.
18:00 · An aperitivo at your pace
Stay around the centre or Piazza Vittorio for an evening drink. A Vermouth di Torino tasting is one local option; choose a non-alcoholic drink if you prefer. Ask what food is included and whether extra plates cost separately.
Keep the day manageable
Use public transport or shorten the walk when needed. Leave San Salvario, a longer museum visit or a trip into the hills for another day. This route does not include tickets, meals or reservations.
