Palermo and the northwest

Begin with markets, bakery slices, chickpea fritters and ricotta pastry. Monreale and Cefalù are separate outings from a Palermo base; confirm the actual outward and return connections for your date.

Trapani, Erice and Marsala

Allow a dedicated western chapter for couscous, bakery traditions, salt landscapes and wine country. Erice is a hill town and Marsala is another destination: do not assume one effortless walk connects them. Tastings require appointments and a safe return plan.

Catania and the Etna side

Change base for pasta alla Norma, local rosticceria and Etna’s food-producing towns. A city meal and an excursion on the volcano have different transport and safety requirements. Check current access rules through official operators before planning any Etna activity.

Syracuse and the southeast

Ortigia is a useful city chapter; Noto, Ragusa, Scicli and Modica each warrant time. Pastry, almond traditions and chocolate can shape the route, but a list of towns is not a realistic single-day itinerary.

Agrigento, the interior and mountain areas

Agrigento combines a distinct city base with archaeological visits. Inland and mountain routes reveal another side of Sicily’s farming and dairy traditions. Confirm opening and visiting arrangements with producers; a rural address is not necessarily a walk-in shop.

The islands

The Aeolian, Egadi and other island journeys depend on ports, seasonal timetables and sea conditions. Choose one island plan with a return connection and buffer time. Do not schedule a tight flight connection after a sea crossing.
