Start in Aosta, then choose a valley. These are independent food outings, not one continuous itinerary.
Choose one direction
- Aosta and its surroundings: a compact starting point for cafés, food shops and a first regional meal.
- Valpelline and Great St Bernard: focus on Fontina, the local baked soup and the ham tradition around Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses. Book producer visits ahead.
- Cogne and the Gran Paradiso valleys: pair a village day with local cooking and a taste of crema di Cogne.
- Courmayeur and the Mont Blanc area: choose a valley base for mountain views and a relaxed meal. The Val Ferret photo illustrates this area, not a restaurant.
- Arnad, Bard and Donnas: a different, lower-valley outing, with local food producers and villages along the main valley.
- Ayas, Gressoney and Valtournenche: select one eastern valley for your day, rather than trying to join several mountain resorts in one route.
Plan the meal and the journey together
A producer, cellar or mountain restaurant may need a reservation even when the nearby village is accessible. Check the road, return transport and seasonal service for your exact destination. Leave high-altitude visits for a separate plan suited to the weather.
