A produce stall, a clear menu and a few good questions. Meet Liguria through the food people actually prepare and sell.
Begin with Mercato Orientale
The market has an entrance on Via XX Settembre. Use an operating stall for a small purchase or a conversation about ingredients. Check stall hours separately from the MOG food area.
Ask before buying
- Where was it made or grown?
- Is it ready to eat, or does it need cooking?
- How should I store it on the journey?
- Can I buy a smaller amount?
A coastal table needs a clear menu
Choose the food as carefully as the view. Ask which fish is used, how it is cooked and what a portion includes. Availability varies; a local place need not serve every regional speciality.
Go inland with a plan
A public farm shop or an arranged producer visit can add another side of Liguria. Confirm the visit and transport first. Working olive groves, farms and kitchens are not automatically open to drop-in visitors.
Turn a purchase into tomorrow’s idea
A local oil can inspire a western Riviera day; a new pasta shape another lunch; a legume soup a visit to La Spezia. Follow one curiosity rather than trying to cover the whole coast.
