Liguria · Italy by Taste

Liguria Food Areas

Genoa, two Riviere, the eastern gulfs and inland valleys. Choose one direction for the next food day.

Genoa & Golfo Paradiso

Begin in Genoa for bakery counters, the old town and a local pasta lunch. Plan Recco or Camogli separately: the cheese-filled focaccia associated with Recco is a different preparation from Genoese focaccia.

Tigullio · Harbour towns & inland meals

Use one base among Santa Margherita Ligure, Rapallo, Chiavari or Sestri Levante, then choose a nearby outing. Portofino is part of this direction, not a Cinque Terre village. Explore the inland side as deliberately as the waterfront.

Cinque Terre & Golfo dei Poeti

Choose one village or use La Spezia, Lerici or Portovenere as a starting point for a distinct day. Fish dishes and La Spezia’s mesciua offer different tastes. Check transport and trail access before combining a walk with a meal.

Riviera delle Palme · Savona, Finale & Albenga

Choose a town and a realistic stretch of its surroundings. Add a produce shop, bakery or inland lunch when it fits the day; allow time to learn where the ingredients were grown rather than collecting seaside stops.

Riviera dei Fiori & the western valleys

Imperia, Sanremo, Taggia and the Valle Argentina offer another Liguria. Ask about olive oil, olives and the dishes prepared locally. Give an inland village its own journey instead of assuming every place sits on the coastal railway.

Make it practical

  • Choose one direction outside Genoa per day.
  • Check outward and return connections together.
  • Confirm a meal or producer visit before building a route around it.
  • Treat boats, trails and countryside visits as services to verify for your date.
  • Keep a shorter alternative for rain or a change of plans.
